PROJECT PONCELET

A studio made to feel like home
This studio really needed some love. The kitchen wasn’t functional at all, which was such a shame as client likes cooking, even just a simple meal after a long day. The bathroom worked, technically, but it felt flat and cheap… not exactly the relaxing space you’d want to unwind in.
We also had to say goodbye to the old, tired carpet and replaced it with a light oak parquet to bring in a brighter, more airy feel. That same oak tone carried through into the kitchen, where we swapped out the old façades, upgraded the tapware, and added open shelves to make it feel more spacious and light.
We also elongated the kitchen in two simple but effective ways:
We added a cabinet where the old radiator used to be.
We extended the tiled kitchen zone, which visually expands the space and makes it feel more like a real kitchen.
For the flooring in both the kitchen and bathroom, we chose a playful light faux terrazzo, and paired it with a white faux zellige for the backsplash and bathroom walls. Even if it’s faux, the way it catches the light brings exactly the kind of texture and brightness I was after, and it adds interest and stops the space from feeling flat.
In the bathroom, we added a backlit LED mirror. Not only is it actually useful for applying makeup or skincare, but it also sets a soft, calming mood for a shower or bath when it’s the only light on. And of course, a touch of girly pink in the vanity adds in the client´s personality and charm—and ties in perfectly with the rug just outside.
Finally, we updated the lighting throughout, brought in accessories with varied textures for that curated, elevated feel, and of course… artwork, artwork, artwork! (Yes, the rug counts as art too.)
